US Branch Extended Logo:

Alongside the spontaneous establishment of the US Branch - initially an emigration aid project set up by what is now the UK Branch - it was decided that an additional extended logo for the US Branch would be necessary due to the growing complexity of Tarka Accord and the clear British imagery on the original extended logo, now the extended logo solely for the UK Branch.

Below is an image of the Tarka Accord Logo (left) and the TA US Branch Extended Logo (right).

To keep a design congruence, the UK Extended Logo alongside its original heraldic influence were used to inform the design of the US Extended Logo - with the UK design being accessible here. As the specific elements of the US design and their symbolism, they are as follows:

  • The Tarka Accord Logo emblazoned on a black shield in the centre of the extended logo. This was maintained from the UK design.

  • A banner displaying "Tarka Accord" on the bottom of the extended logo. This was maintained from the UK design.

  • A phrase on the shield underneath the Tarka Accord Logo displaying 'Ce n'est pas une armoirie' (meaning: 'This is not a coat of arms'). This phrase was initially included on the UK Branch Extended Logo for legal reasons, origination from a communication with the College of Arms, and was kept on the US design.

  • A grizzly bear on both the Dexter (viewer's left) and Sinister (viewer's right) of the shield. These grizzly bears were chosen as a way of representing the branch's origins with the first major branch lead being from California - where the bear is frequently used to represent the state.

  • A yellow umbrella within the arms of the grizzly bear on the Dexter and a rifle within the arms of the grizzly beat on the Sinister. These two tool were chosen to represent the Tarka Accord's origins from the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong and the unique civil defense culture present in the United States, respectively.

  • Stylised US flag streamers wrapped around both the umbrella and rifle and hanging down at the rear of each bear, added to clearly represent the logo's association with the US Branch and to add more colour to the design.

  • A beaver atop the shield facing the Dexter. Similarly to the bears, the beaver was added to symbolise the branch's history due to the branch starting in New York - as the beaver is the state animal of the state -  with its first member being from and located there - although it should be mentioned that the headquarters of the branch was moved to Pennsylvania soon after.

  • Three stars above and slightly behind the beaver, coloured from left-to-right as: red, white, and blue. These stars were added to represent the United States collectively - with the additional element that the red and blue stars individually symbolise California and New York, respectively (the specific hues of red and blue being taken from the states' respective flags).

Additionally, it should be mentioned that the extended logo was produced by Isobel V. Robinson (an affiliate of the group / group's founder) with the constant involvement of the founder. The ownership of the item is to be transferred to Tarka Accord from Robinson in an as-of-now pending agreement. Further information and images on the subject of the extended logo are available upon request.
